Directions from Santa Rosa & Hwy 101 North (about 70 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco):

Follow Hwy 101 North to the River Road exit just a few miles north of downtown Santa Rosa. Turn right on Mark West Springs Road.  Follow approximately 9 miles to the end (blinking stop light).  Turn right on Calistoga Road and proceed 0.7 mile to Dante Vineyards entrance on the left (look for our sign and a black 4-rail fence). Follow signs to guest cottage; it’s the first building on the left (Yellow Cottage).

Directions from Napa and I-80 (all 4 bay area airports):

Take the Napa exit: if eastbound (from the Bay), this is the Hwy 37 exit; if westbound (from Sacramento), this is the Hwy 12 exit. 

Follow signs to Hwy 29 North. Once in the Napa Valley, you can take Hwy 29 all the way to the Town of Calistoga.  Or you can take the Silverado Trail for a parallel route, the road less taken on the east side of the valley; get back to Hwy 29 via Deer Park Road/hwy128 (just north of St. Helena).  At the west entrance to Calistoga (intersection of 29/128 and Lincoln Ave), continue northwest about 1 mile to a 4-way stop (Arco gas/store). Turn Left onto Petrified Forest Road.  Counting miles from the Arco station:

·        2.1 miles to the top of the hill

·        3.7 miles to the Petrified Forest

·        4.2 miles to Porter Creek Road (becomes  Mark West Springs Rd near hwy101)

·        5.0 miles to Dante Vineyards, turn left immediately beyond the 25mph curve sign: see the Dante sign, black fence and hillside vineyard site; cottage is first building on the left.

Directions to the Town of Calistoga:

Leaving from Dante Vineyards, Turn Right onto Calistoga Road.  Calistoga Road becomes Petrified Forest Road. You will then pass Hans Fahden winery and Petrified Forest Museum. Continue the winding grade 2 miles down the hill. Turn Right onto Hwy 128/29 South (More for Less Gas Market on right hand side).  Look for old sign that says "Calistoga ->". Turn Left onto Lincoln Ave. The Town of Calistoga has everything you’ll need for your stay, like wonderful restaurants, shops and a grocery store.
